Self-Assessment Tax Returns for UK Taxpayers Filed Accurately Every Time
Filing your own self-assessment is stressful, time-consuming, and easy to get wrong. ABM Chartered Accountants prepares and files your tax return with every allowable expense claimed, every relief applied, and every deadline met so you pay the right amount and nothing more.
Your Tax Return Prepared, Checked, and Filed
A self-assessment tax return reports your total income to HMRC and calculates the tax you owe. It covers employment, self-employment, dividends, rental income, capital gains, and any other taxable income. ABM Chartered Accountants prepares your return accurately, claims every relief you are entitled to, and files it with HMRC before the deadline.
Our ICAEW and ACCA qualified accountants gather your income and expense records, calculate your tax liability across all sources, apply the correct personal allowances and reliefs, complete the return with all supplementary pages required, and submit it online to HMRC on your behalf.

Frequently Asked Questions
Here are answers to the self-assessment questions we hear most often. Contact our team for tailored guidance.
Do I need to file a self-assessment tax return?
You need to file a self-assessment return if you are self-employed, a company director, a landlord with rental income, a higher-rate taxpayer with untaxed savings income, or if you earned more than 150,000 pounds in the tax year. HMRC may also require one in other circumstances.
What is the deadline for filing?
The deadline for filing an online self-assessment tax return is 31 January following the end of the tax year. For the 2025/26 tax year, the deadline is 31 January 2027. ABM Chartered Accountants files your return well before the deadline to avoid any last-minute risk.
What expenses can I claim?
The expenses you can claim depend on your income source. Self-employed individuals can claim business costs such as materials, travel, insurance, and professional fees. Landlords can claim property costs such as repairs, agent fees, and mortgage interest at the basic rate. We identify every claim you are entitled to.
What happens if I file late?
If you miss the 31 January deadline, HMRC charges an automatic 100-pound penalty even if you owe no tax. After three months, daily penalties of 10 pounds apply for up to 90 days. After six and twelve months, further penalties are charged. Interest also accrues on unpaid tax.
Will Making Tax Digital affect my self-assessment?
Yes. From April 2026, self-employed individuals and landlords with income above 50,000 pounds must keep digital records and submit quarterly updates to HMRC. The threshold drops to 30,000 pounds from April 2027. ABM Chartered Accountants helps you prepare for these changes in advance.
How much does it cost to have my return prepared?
Fees depend on the complexity of your tax affairs and the number of income sources involved. A straightforward return for a single income source costs less than one with rental property, capital gains, and foreign income. We offer fixed-fee pricing. Contact ABM Chartered Accountants for a quote.
